February 13 Retail traders are getting more active, a good sign for brokerages. E*Trade’s (ETFC +1%) average daily trading volume in January was down Y/Y but up 20% from December, mirroring recent results from other online brokerages. ETFC added 30,298 brokerage accounts last month to ~2.8M; customer assets total $185.4B, up 2.3% Y/Y and up 7.5% M/M.
